Anyone practice the art of Kyujitsu?
Do the practictioners still draw/pull the bow back 1000 times each day befor putting an arrow to it?

Would Uchi-ne be considered a seperate art?

I don't recognize this term, and I don't find it in Hoff's book. What is it?

The Combat side of Kyudo.

To answer your question, YES. I spoke with someone in the Indianapolis, Indiana area that teaches Kyudo. He pulls the bow 80-100 times twice a day. He also "pretends" to pull the bow every chance he gets. I asked him how many arrows he shoots in a typical day.....his reply was 3 or 4.

I saw two of the four arrows once.....bulleye twice in a row.
Something to think about,

When marksman-archer Lim Han Soo arrived in Japan 3 1/2 years ago, his dream was to teach his Japanese students how to read the wind, but they were more interested in soccer and baseball.

"That's where the money is," says the 37-year-old Lim. "There are few career opportunities in minor sports such as archery, so most people don't take them seriously here in Japan."
