Stars for Charity and Battle of Detroit World Martial Arts Open to be held March 17, 2007 at the University of Michigan Dearborn Field House.

The Stars for Charity Expo and Battle of Detroit World Martial Arts Open in its 37th year will be held at the University of Michigan Dearborn Field House 4019 Evergreen Rd. Dearborn, Michigan. The event that donates to a healthcare charity features Martial Arts competition in over 300 divisions in all Styles of the Arts. This year will feature a “World Record Speed Brick Break” as Kevin Taylor of Clinton Township attempts to break more than 400 pounds of cement in less than one minute with his hand! There will also be a Speed Brick Breaking Championship held by the WSBBA the sanctioning body for speed brick breaking.

Thousands will converge on Dearborn, Michigan to be part of or view the Battle of Detroit World Open Championships a premier Martial Arts event. At the championship there will be vendors and possibly some Stars for Autographs. Past years have drawn Stars Michael Jai White “Spawn”, Antonio Fargas “Huggy Bear”, Virgil Jones “WWF Wrestler the million dollar man”, Virginia Hey “Farscape”, Dr John Gray author book “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus”, Fumio Demura “Karate Kid movie”, and many many more!

This year the event will award three leadership awards. The recipients of this years leadership awards an award given to those that show outstanding leadership in business and the community are Master Duane Pitcher, Valerie Watson of World Class Martial Arts Institute in Livonia,MI. and Master Ali Koubessi of Koubessi’s Tae Kwon Do School in Dearborn, Michigan. The event will also conduct a moment of silence for two martial arts pioneers that passed away Grand Master Jae Joon Kim and Grand Master Marshal Johnson.
