We went to the AAU Karate Tournament. 6 of us went & we took 7 silver medals. I’m so proud of everybody that my head can’t fit thru the door. I won 2 medals in the old man’s division in kata & kobudo. It’s the 1st time I did Bo. I worked my butt off on that Bo form & I felt good because I did not make any mistakes. Tom Malinky won one in kumite 45 yr. + div. Tom lost to a 6th deg. Black belt in his 2nd tournament ever. Josh Dombroff won one in kumite in the 17/18 yr. old, advanced div. he lost to a black belt national champ. Steve my brown belt won 1 ea. in kumite & kata in the advanced division. My son Ben, a purple belt, won 1 in kumite. He knocked out a green belt with a mawashi geri to the solar plexus & beat a black belt in a combined int./adv. div. The important thing is he discovered his gyaku zuki & he admitted that he should also be doing kata.
Thanks,
Sensei Tom

Thanks, this is a great forum. You can talk about anything related to martial arts here and there is a lot of experience out there.
Thanks,
Sensei Tom

I was really proud of my students at the AAU, NJ, State Karate Championships. Five of them competed and they took home 5 medals. My son Ben took 3rd in kata & 2nd in Kumite in the 15-16 yr. old intermediate div. Steve my brown belt took 3rd in kumite and 5th in kata. Shelly my 19 yr. old white belt took silver in kumite. Simon a little 8 yr. old white belt took 1st place after 5 fights. He is so cute! He is like one of those kids from the old cartoons whose legs are going like a spinning wheel when you pick them up. Set him down and he takes off like a shot. I will try to post some pictures.
Thanks,
Sensei Tom
