MartialTalks annual training seminar and meet & greet is a great opportunity to train and see a wide variety of different arts and styles.

This years event marks the 5-Year anniversary of MartialTalk.com. Joining MT in this celebration, are our sister sites KenpoTalk.com and FMATalk.com, as well as our original parent site WNYMartialArts.com!

We will be having a stick fighting tournament as part of the event. Entry is open to all event attendees and instructors at no additional cost.

Please... Im a 5th kyu who ukemi's like a 9th kyu. I am not afraid to admit it... I need a lot of work on it... I have an issue with falling, so I cant relax well when I am doing it, (intentionally anyhow) and it shows in my ukemi skills. I've posted about it in the Ninjutsu forum.

Anyhow... anyone goin looking for a roommate for fri/sat?

Dunno what the going room rate is; I didn't make the hotel reservations. I do know that there are a couple other conventions or something going on in Buffalo that same weekend, which most likely increased the rate.

When I called the hotel, they had a wedding party and something else scheduled. That, plus the fair being that same week seems to have run the rate up in the $150 area, though discounts may apply on actual rates.

I also hear that the sword demo was verry intresting, seeing that it was given by somone that knows what they are doing and that studies a true sword art.

Just to briefly echo what Bob said: This year's Meet and Greet was a blast. I had the pleasure of sharing a room with Georgia and Carol for the weekend. It was great meeting some of these folks I've met online in "real life". Not only were we exposed to different martial arts, we also took the time to get to know each other a little better.

Oh, yeah :D...anyway, I had a lot of fun! The WMAA Instructors' Camp overlapped this event and so I had to miss several of the sessions, unfortunately. But as a former iaidoka I really enjoyed the sword demonstration--especially the two-sword technqiues--and once again I was grateful to grimfang for explaining more about the theory and strategies of Sikaran to us. In the arnis session I was able to work with fellow arnisador Carol Kaur and also with shesulsa.

It was nice to have a chance to meet so many people! We declared kreth and Technopunk honorary FMAers because of our shared interests in sharp pointy things. Congratulations to kreth on his stick-sparring victory!

It's always nice to see my friends Bob Hubbard and Miyu again. As usual, I wish we had had more time to chat. I also saw ace too briefly. However, I did get to meet a few new people as well.

Of course, I did get to spend much time with the WMAA instructors present, and that's always a fun time!

I had a blast ... wasn't feeling well for part of the trip, but I still had a great time. The change in environment and peeps stirred me up again - I haven't trained much in the last year or so.

It would be really kewl if we could make it a longer day next time, there just wasn't enough time to delve into things as deep as we could have.

Yeah, ideally, you have the hanbo compressing the end of the radial bones. I think most people only tried that technique once or twice... :lol:

The pics look great, Bob! :) Many shots of Shesulsa wiping the mat with me (by the way, Geo...what is the Korean equivalent of "uke"?), as well as Kreth beating the stuffing out of Techno. Good stuff. Turned out a LOT better than my crappy grainy pics.

Everyone was very nice and open and fun. I am sorry I couldn't have made the meet and greet itself. The stories were all good though.
