Personally, I'm not a gun person, but I think the shopper was in the right in this case.

It looks pretty "cut and dry" to me. According to the letter he received from Best Buy, they don't have a corporate policy against firearms in their stores.
With regard to the actions of the rent-a-cop, it appears obvious to me that he had no clue what he was talking about. Furthermore, it was extremely stupid (dangerous) on his part to attempt to just grab the firearm. (it's the morons like this guy who give private security personel a bad name)
The actions of the CCW holder were exactly what I plan to do if I'm ever involved in a similar situation. He wasn't antagonistic, he agreed to wait for the police, but he refused to surrender his weapon to someone who had no legal authority (or any real reason) to take it.
