View Full Version : Are Men Welcome Here

Ladies, this forum was obviously set up with females in mind. A
place for you specifically to go. How do you feel about male
interaction here? Would you prefer that it's a place for women
to post for and with other women, or do you like the male
involvement here? Would you prefer to be able to specify
whether or not men are welcome on each thread specifically?

Hey there..

I personally have no problem with the guys posting in here.. As long as the topics stay women realated... what's the harm... we can learn from all people.. right??

that's all..

Bob Hubbard

In all seriousness, IMO, everyone is allowed in here, provided they can behave. For the ladies, in the event that things get out of hand, etc, please use the "Report to Moderator" feature by every post and let us know whats up. One of our mods will be happy to look into it.

This forum is for the ladies to discuss issues pertaining to their training. It may evolve to very serious, or very loose. I'd prefer that our female members set the tone in here, rather than us guys asking 'guy perspective questions'.

Why would we want to segregate ourselves? Too much of that in this world anymore.. I, for one, would get bored quickly just hearing answers from one gender. That's what makes the world go round .. Men and Women pandering back and forth. If men were not in the equation then I doubt women would even have a need for Martial Arts.. *chuckles*.. No offense guys.. :)
I love sparring physically and verbally with men. so let's keep things open for all ~!

At this point we have only board-wide mods., not forum-specific mods.--that is, all mods. have responsibility for all areas. Moderators were chosen from the most prolific posters; we quite literally listed the top posters and chose potential mods. from among them. I do not believe there were any women among the top posters at the time.

Would a female Moderator or two bring in more women?

Bob Hubbard

arnisador is right. When we looked at who to ask for the last round of mod picks, we went thru the top 10 posters. I wouldn't mind having one or two of the ladies moderate this forum.

It just takes a good familiarity with the forum software, a good attitude, and a willingness to deal with insanity. :) Regular visitor is a must, and regular poster is good too.

Insanity=Kaith, Cthulhu, Renegade, and myself (the admins. and SuperMods.).

People are most welcome to take an informal leadership role in a forum as well, as Goldendragon7 surely has in Kenpo, for example. Others are providing leadership there as well.

I am not bothering to read the rest of the thread, because it's old, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of the current compliment of ladies on the board.

Having said that, I feel like I'm welcome here, and if that's any indication, then I would suggest that men are welcome here, provided they behave in a respectable fashion, and keep their noses out of things where they don't belong.

It seems to me that this forum has kind of become a place where male vs. female issues tend to get discussed, and the "ladies only" stuff ends up in the LLR (I assume, since security's tight and I just can't seem to sneak a peek :idunno: ).
Because of the general topics discussed in here, it seems to me that the male viewpoint on some of these issues can be useful, provided that it is given in a serious and appropriate way. So, there you are, then. Dan's thoughts.

Lisa

Very well put Dan and thank you for being one of the many gentlemen on this forum who can discuss male vs female issues with a great degree of decorum (sp?) I, for one, enjoy listening to both sides of an arguement and I have often had my eyes opened by the opposite sexes take on an issue. :asian:

Thank you for that, but we do actually have our own place where we can discuss our periods, what sized tampon would be best, what to do about facial hair, why it hurts when we have sex, which shoes to buy etc between ourselves, a place where we dont feel embarassed with stuff we cant talk to our partners about sometimes. But it is still good to have this forum so we can get a males point of view!!

Ditto LOLOLOLOL, Raisin,
That should sufficiently give the men an overview of what we don't discuss in the women's forum but do discuss in the LLR.

We do welcome your viewpoints in the Women's Forum generally - refer to Flatlander's statement. :D In fact, if we women specifically want your viewpoint we will probably ask when the thread is created. We all need to learn more about how different (or same) men and women are in regard to martial arts. TW
