Suggestions for getting better response to event notices on forums:

1: Don't just pop in, post your flier and leave. Be an active member.

2: Link to your most recent event in your signature. The more active you are here, the more exposure you will get in a forum-friendly way.

3: Don't just post a flier. Post about the people who will be there, their histories, what they will be covering, and if you've seen them before.

4: Don't just post a location, give some travel directions, mention lodging and tourist information. Some of us would love to go, but the family comes first. Give the non-martial arts members something to do, and you may see higher turn outs.

5: Come back after the event and post a write up on what went on.

6: Sell your event by building interest so that newbies and long timers look forward to it, and regret not going if they miss it.

7: Don't just "bump" the notice, revive and expand on it, add new information, or share some stories about past camps (if it's a regular event).

The key in event promotion is to get people talking, reading and excited. Simply posting a flier rarely does that, as it is rapidly lost in the shuffle amongst dozens of other notices.

Yes, please! I hate seeing seminar notices and never getting a review of the event. Let us know what happened!

I'd say that is a good choice for #1, show up and make one post, it WILL get ignored as a shameless ad. A active member posting about an event will get a lot more attention.

I'll agree with arnisador it is a pain to see a 3 or 4 month build up to an event then have nothing posted after. Pics and videos would be nice also

his also is important many times a family may want to visit an area while a student is at a seminar

May I suggest posting the event location in the thread title as well. There are a lot of events posted, and it makes things easier to be able to see where the event is without having to view every post.

I find this whole forum very confusing. How do you find the latest information about current events? So many threads seem so old. Some announcements don't have years with the dates. How does one find the Kung Fu events for example. I am specifically intereste in Tai Chi, and will be competing in Orlando FL, Memorial Day weekend. Has the information about that event been posted. I have the information and would be glad to post it. Now there is a place that the whole family can enjoy? I probably won't find this thread again so someone could email me. Hmm I doubt that I made my email public. Well I'll try to find this again or a post on the Tai Chi forum would likely get to me as that is where I usually lurk.

And please also consider putting the date in the title as well. That gives a snapshot of what/when/where, even if no one opens the thread, or even if no one reads anything else.

Use the Search feature.
Events are listed if someone posts them.
I personally don't have the time to spend combing the internet for notices to post here, but will post them if they are sent to me if I have time. But, event promoters are free to register and post their notices here for free.
We've got no control over how they post them though.
I posted suggestions for better results, some use them, some don't.
