I live and teach Hapkido in Annandale Va, about 30 min. away from DC. I do believe there is an Iaido school in that area. Let me do some checking, and I'll get back to you. Is your friend going to be living in DC, or in northern VA?

Talk to their sword instructor Dave Drawdy (good swordsman, great guy!). He may not have room in his Nakamura ryu classes, but he will know anyone in the area that teaches the Japanese sword arts and will help you out.

Drawdy Sensei is highly reccomended. If for some reason you could not train with him he will be a good source for information and advice on finding a dojo.
