Historically Martial Artist were Monks whom where dedicated to heal and help the weak and sick. This being said I think any Insturctor should be trained in Basic First Aid and CPR.
Myself being a Licensed Nurse I am slightly biased in this subject.

1. No, but in a week I get my certificate for passing the course.
2. Next week
3. If the school can afford it or students are willing to take the course, then go for it. Useful skill, you could save somebodys life.
4. Not yet.
5. We are in a sports centre so the first aid consists of the centre's staff and their medical room, so we are lucky!

5. Does everyone know where the first aide kit is located in ur school. Yup.
This is a good thread, as a liscensed paramedic I'm also a bit biased, but everyone should learn basic first aid, not just MAist or BB's.

I'm glad to see this particular thread come up. As stated by

Myself being a Licensed Nurse I am slightly biased in this subject. So it makes sense for the true MA to have knowledge of healing or at least basic first-aid. BB's should have advanced or EMT training IMO because they're capable of doing much more damage.
None of us want to actually KILL anyone but the skills we learn through the years give us that capability. Yes, discipline and training and practice (should) afford us the skill to NOT do that.. but poo-poo happens as we all know.
But I feel that having the necessary first-aid skill helps rounds out the Martial Artist.

2. Expired (though I'd like to get it renewed when I have the time and money)
3. Everyone should get proper first aid and CPR training
4. Yup, but fortunately it wasn't anything serious
5. Good question. Our class is held at a university's old, lesser used gymnasium. I know they have first aid kits around there somewhere, and possibly those small defibrillator devices as well. But exactly where, well, that's probably something I should check on.

But why not?I mean, do you think it is necessary to be re-certified just because some organization request it. Or for some organization to have standards? And so, what, do you think, the re-certification should take place, per intervals?

If you want to be covered by the law, and insurance, and etc I would advise keeping your certification active and valid. You dont have to to know first aid, but I'm of the opinion that you should allways CYA (Cover Your Ass) and keeping your certification up is one way to do that.

Just a couple of questions. five is more than a couple
1. Have u been trained in first aide - "Have you been trained in First Aid?" - Yes, but many years ago.
2. Are u currently red cross certified - "Are you currently Red Cross certified?" Sadly, no. Long since lapsed.
3. should advanced students be trained in the methods? Yes. In an ideal world we all would be, regardless of employment, etc.
4. Have you encountered teachers/instructors who did not know what to do during an injury? "during" an injury?...Good preparation before an activity to prevent the injury, suitable treatment after an injury to promote effective healing and prevent further damage... but "during an injury"?
5. Does everyone know where the first aide kit is located in ur school.
Does everyone in the school know where the First Aid kit is located? Probably not, but this is a very good point. Foresight, common sense and attention to detail are important. Getting the small things right can help everyone achieve the most from the experience.
Sorry about the spelling sidetrack, but if no-one ever points out the error, how will you ever correct it? "Lift your knee higher before making that side-kick, it will be better..."

Actually, a couple by definition(s) is not merely "two". From a later and/or other definition(s) is.. 4 -A few; several.....
