Hi everybody! I am a beginer Boken user. I have a standard boken katana and I was wondering if any of u had any moves i could practice on my own. I don't have a class I'm purely self taught. I know some basic moves and a few that i have seen in "The Legend of Dragoon". If anyone can lend me some pointers and such I would greatly appreciate that.

I doubt you'll get much help self teaching. In general, the advice is do it for real or don't worry about what you're doing. If you're making it up, what difference does it make what you do?

Perhaps we can help you find instruction in your area? Tell us where you are and let's see if we know of anything nearby.

I don't know of anything in your area, although I do know that California has a thriving kendo community. I would not be at all suprised if there was a kendo dojo nearby. Someone else here may chime in. You can also check over at http://www.e-budo.com and http://www.swordforum.com in the sword arts forums.

Hi,

You may want to check out Cal Sate Chico and find Tom Lang. He's nidan in Muso Shinden Ryu iaido. I'm not sure if he teaches iaido there, but he can at least point you in the right direction.

Otherwise, the nearest kendo dojo that I know of is at least a 1.5-2 hour drive south in the Sacramento area.
