I am currently learning pinan katas. I know it means peaceful mind. Why is this the name, and how is this achieved through kata? What source are you using to

What source are you using to answer?:) MIke The Kanji for Pinnan are Pin=flat and an= safe.....there is a Chinese idiom..... Yi Lu PingAn= One road safe trip (more or less) Possibly meaning flat roads are safer to travel on than roads that are in disrepair. Anyway it means have a safe trip. It was said by some master that knowing/mastering the 5 Pinnan kata would enable the person to defend against most attacks. I can't verify the truth in the saying or who actually said it but that is the popular theory. |
